Day 1: Arrival in Oaxaca City

Hola, everyone! Team PUC Mexico has made it safely to Oaxaca! We all flew in from different locations and arrived throughout the day, but eventually we made it to our hotel without any complications.

We are staying at Hotel Aitana tonight, a small hotel not too far from the airport. On the second floor, there is a beautiful balcony that shows a view of the city and mountains and has nice seating areas. At night, it looks like a scene from Disney-Pixar's Coco. I will definitely be checking that out tomorrow when there’s more light!

A small part of our team got to Oaxaca around midday and had time to walk all over the city and explore on foot. Here's a glimpse into the sights they saw:

Once everyone had checked in, we walked to a restaurant called Biznaga, which had wonderful local food, with hints of hibiscus, mole, squash blossoms, and cactus. We all left feeling very content and walked back to our hotel for the night. Tomorrow, we plan on going to Home Depot and making our last few purchases before traveling to Santiago Suchilquitongo to meet the community members and get started on our project. We are so excited!!
